Description:

New to the field of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities? Been around but curious? This is a “whirlwind tour” of the DD field, including: the dramatic history of developmental disabilities; technical definitions; descriptions and visuals of common developmental disabilities; terminology; “People First” language; a practice “ride” on the Individual Support Plan (ISP) and other essential elements & values of the DD system. Video and slide “sightseeing” plus stories, lecture, discussion and a great set of souvenir handouts! New and “well-traveled” residential & vocational staff, families, foster care providers caregivers, and other professionals are especially welcome!

[Note: State approved for 6 hours of AFC training credit.]

Directions:

From I-205, take SE Washington St east approx 10 blocks, right on SE 106th Ave (by Acapulco Restaurant). Police building is on right, across from Community Center parking lot. Or walk down ramp from Big Lots store in adjacent strip mall.
