Practical Approaches to Autism

Description:

This class will consist of several short inter-active lectures. Our goal is to provide practical techniques supported by both empirical research and positive anecdotal testimonies. Areas covered will include:

  • Contemporary Understandings of the Autism Spectrum
  • Sensory Supports
  • Positive Behavioral Supports
  • Structure
  • Effective Communication Techniques for/with People with Autism
  • Social Stories
  • Developmentally Based Approaches

Trainees should leave the training with a good basic understanding of the areas listed above, new skills that can be directly applied and new resources to employ for deeper understandings of the topics covered.
