Description:

Functional (Behavioral) Assessment (AKA Functional Analysis) is a key component in Positive Behavior Support. It is also a requirement written into state and federal rule. But, merely filling out a form often fails to lead to any meaningful behavior supports. This workshop will cover the fundamentals of this process of discovery. We will go far beyond the shortcuts often taken and provide a suggested process that meets the spirit of positive behavior support. The workshop will include elements of person-centered planning, environmental assessment and “engineering,” “goodness of fit,” Initial Line of Inquiry (ILI), observation and data collection, data-based decision-making, types of assessment, hypothesis development and testing, and implications for the positive behavior support plan.

**This workshop is designed for everyone on the “team” who wish to improve their understanding of behavioral challenges and contribute to the development of Behavior Support Strategies.**

Directions:

The address is 8360 Cason Road in Gladstone.  You will take the Gladstone exit off of 205 then head west on 82nd Ave.  Turn right on Oatfield Road, then right on Webster Road, then right on Cason Road.  When you turn from Webster on to Cason Road, you will see several signs for Somerset.  The first is Somerset Lodge, pass that one.  The second is Somerset Assisted Living.  There are two entrances to Somerset Assisted Living.  Go past the main entrance.  The second entrance doesn’t have much signage but that is the one you want.  Our training room is on the lower level of the building and a small sign out front says Gladstone Enrichment Center.

**Important:  We can park in any open parking spots in the back parking lot.  Please avoid parking in the main entrance parking lot.  It is reserved for residents and their guests.**
