Description:
The Behavior Roundtables will be monthly (third Tuesday), small group (registration is capped at 15), interactive, lunch hour workshops addressing various behavioral challenges commonly occurring in individuals with I/DD.
In this second roundtable we’ll discuss the importance of creating an “emergency toolkit” for supporting your family member(s) or client(s) through challenging times/settings. In addition we’ll talk about the importance of rehearsing novel events to help prevent anxiety in the community or during new experiences in general, as well as effective methods to use for this sort of pre-teaching.
Since these are intended to be interactive sessions each one will allow at least an hour for questions and discussion encouraging “comparing notes” and offering support and suggestions to each other. It is hoped participants will feel empowered to make changes in the way they may support individuals they work with as well as better understanding situations that may require additional support from a behavior consultant.
